Irritable Bowel Syndrome

IBS is a disorder that impacts the gastrointestinal tract and is characterized by symptoms including abdominal pain, bloating, and altered bowel habits.

Ibs is a not a disease, its a chronic & relapsing syndrome .Symptoms often wax & wane, you can keep IBS in remission if you understand the underlying causes of the symptoms.

The cause of IBS is multifactorial which includes -

  1. Poor or hyper gut motility
  2. Rectal dysfunction
  3. visceral hypersensitivity,
  4. Stress & psychological factors that can influence the symptoms
  5. Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth
  6. Low-grade inflammation
  7. Altered microbiota -Low-grade inflammation
  8. Intestinal permeability -Leaky Gut
  9. Enhance gut-brain axis(Stress & anxiety )
  10. Immune system activation
  11. High fodmaintoleranceses
  12. Low stomach acids
  13. Heredity
  14. Post gastroenteritis

Although IBS is a relatively common condition, in my experience it was never diagnosed in time in most cases. Statistics say that there are more undiagnosed cases of IBS than diagnosed cases of IBS across the world. IBS is not life-threatening, but can negatively impact their quality of life as patients often feel anxious, and frustrated, searching for an organic cause for their symptoms, but unable to find targeted therapies. Ibs may drain you psychologically and physically
